We’re upgrading your landline and broadband

We’re moving your landline and broadband service to Digital Voice, at no extra cost to you. This upgrade is part of the UK-wide move to a fully digital network.

Openreach is switching off the old analogue phone network by January 2027, which means anyone who currently uses the old analogue network needs to move to a digital phone service before then, or else their service will no longer work.

The good news? You don’t need to worry, we’re getting this sorted for you well ahead of the switch-off, so you stay connected without disruption.

What’s changing?

The UK’s traditional landline network is being retired and replaced with a modern digital service.

Instead of phone calls running over the old analogue network, Digital Voice uses your broadband connection to make and receive calls. This is similar to how voice and video calls work on smartphones and apps today.

What does this mean for me?

  • You’ll still be able to make and receive calls as normal

  • There’s no change to your contract or price

  • Your service will be prepared for the move to digital

  • A more up-to-date way to stay connected

There’s no downside, it’s simply an upgrade.

Do I need to do anything before the switch?

Yes, there are a couple of important checks to make.

Check your connected equipment

If you have any devices connected to your landline, such as:

  • Alarm systems (including personal or panic alarms)

  • Care or monitoring services

  • Card payment machines that aren’t contactless

You’ll need to contact your equipment provider to check they’re compatible with Digital Voice.

If you’re not sure whether this applies to you, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

What happens next?

  • We’ll confirm your upgrade date in advance

  • Your new Wi-Fi 6 router will arrive 1–2 days before the switch

  • We’ll explain exactly what to expect on the day

What will happen on the day?

  • Disconnect your current router and phone from the wall socket. Plug in your new router using the adapter provided

  • Connect your phone to the port labelled PHONE on the back of the router

  • After a few minutes, you’ll hear a dial tone and you’re all set.

You may notice a short interruption while the upgrade completes.
